Hi,

I'm running Win XP Pro SP2 & Office 2003 and I just upgraded to B&W 3. I have Outlook set to use Word as my email editor. As recommended, I had Outlook closed when I installed it.

Now every time I try to create a new email Outlook hangs and I have to use the task manger to shut down Word--as soon as I do, everything is fine until the next time I shut down Outlook, restart it and try to create a new email. When replying to an existing email there's no problem.

I've tried enabling & disabling the text templates (as well as various other settings), but to no avail. I had no problems whatsoever with B&W 2.5.

Please advise.

Never mind, I already figured it out myself.

For the Record:

There is a bug with the date/timestamp feature when using MS Word as my e-mail editor and with Outlook set to use custom signatures based on each email account. When the date/timestamp feature is enabled it causes Outlook to hang until Word is shut down via the Windows task manager. When the date/timestamp feature is NOT enabled, there is no problem.

The above was never an issue B&W 2.5 and has only occurred since I upgraded. Considering I initially purchased B&W for the date/timestamp feature, this makes the upgrade to B&W 3 worthless to me.

Hi,

Can you please advise on the full version number of v3 of Bells & Whistles? The date/time bug that you are describing seems very similar to a bug that was present in the first release of v3, but it was fixed on the latest v3 update.

Regards,
Bogdan

Bells & Whistles version: 3.0.132.0

One of the first things I did was check for updates, so I doubt that's the problem.

I've also noticed that when I'm having the Word problem, two windows seem to be trying to open when I try to create a new email--one with the date/timestamp on it, and the other with my Word signature on it.

Can you please let me know the followings:
1. your Outlook & Windows versions;
2. what type(s) of email account are you using (POP or IMAP);
3. do you use Outlook as a client for a MS Exchange server?

Thanks,
Bogdan

I sent an email to B&W support yesterday via the B&W menu with the very info you're requesting, but here it is:

1. Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 (Build 2600), Outlook 11.0.0.5608
2. POP only
3. No

We just managed to replicate the problem, hopefully there will be a quick fix & product update during the next few days.

Bogdan

Great, I'm glad you were able to replicate it. I'll keep my eyes open for the update.

Thanks
