I'm testing de Easy Mail Merge software and i'm having the following problem:

I created email including scenario

%BEGINIF%
%IF((BusinessAddressCity) Contains (Valkenswaard))%
Test Valkenswaard
%ELSE%
We willen u graag uitnodigen in Utrecht daar dat centraal gelegen in het land ligt
%ENDIF%

$BusinessAddressCity$

Joeri Bosch

Harmony Consult Nederland B.V.
+31 (0)40 - 2075011
+31 (0)6 - 47566240

When I click Preview I see the following:

%BEGINIF%

%IF((BusinessAddressCity) Contains (Valkenswaard))%

Test Valkenswaard

%ELSE%

We willen u graag uitnodigen in Utrecht daar dat centraal gelegen in het land ligt

%ENDIF%

Valkenswaard

Joeri Bosch
Harmony Consult Nederland B.V.

+31 (0)40 - 2075011
+31 (0)6 - 47566240

Why is the scenario not executing. It can't be the fact that the contact doensn't have a BusinessAddressCity. Please help to resolve the problem

Hi Joeri,

Please make sure that you use Outlook's default email editor not MS Word. To use Outlook's default email editor please go to Outlook->Tools->options->Mail Format and uncheck these two options: "Use Microsoft Office Word to edit email messages" and "Use Microsoft Office Word to read Rich Text email messages".

I created this scenario:

Dear ^Salutation^,

Thank you for your generous contribution of ^Amount^ made on ^Gift date^

%BEGINIF%
%IF((Type) IsEqualTo (Pledge))%
to be paid in installment schedule shown below. Your ^Credit_Type^ was charged on ^Gift date^ for Installment Number ^Installment_Number_1^.
%ENDIF%

For my .csv file I've changed all the email addressess to go to me. When I previewed and sent these (to myself), the messages did NOT apply the scenario although it merged . So the message I received looked like this:

Dear Catherine,

Thank you for your generous contribution of $125.00 made on 8/21/2007

%BEGINIF%
%IF((Type) IsEqualTo (Pledge))%
to be paid in installment schedule shown below. Your visa was charged on 8/21/2007 for Installment Number 1.
%ENDIF%

I have already made sure that I am using Outlook's default email editor, so that can't be the problem.

Thanks,
Shilpa

Hi,

How does the message look when you preview it?
Have you tried manually editing the scenarios?

Kind regards.

Hi Andra,

When I hit the "Preview" button, the message looks exactly how I described it above, with the %scripts showing up in the mail instead of the logical condition being applied. (See example msg from previous post where it begins "Dear Catherine, ") Note that I'm including merge fields within the %IF statements--could that have something to do with it?

I'm not sure what you mean by this...If you mean actually typing into the %BEGINIF and %ENDIF fields, then no, because of this, which I read in the User Manual:

" A scenario/condition always starts with %BEGINIF% and it ends with %ENDIF%.

Please do not try to change the script by typing into it: if you need to edit it, simply use the "Edit scenario" button. "

Thanks,
Shilpa

Hi,

I have noticed that if your message looks like this:
"...made on ^Gift date^%BEGINIF%
%IF((Type) IsEqualTo (Pledge))%..." (no spaces between the field and the scenario)then the product doesn't recognize the scenario. Is this your case or the message is formatted as it looks on the forum?
If this isn't the case, please send an email using the "Contact Support Service" option from the Easy Mail Merge toolbar. This will help us gather information that we need in order to better assist you.

Kind regards.
