I am using Outlook 2007, and when I receive an encrypted email and try to open it I get an error message that my digital id cannot be found in the underlying security system. If I disable the Bells & Whistles add-in, then I can open the message just fine.

What should I do so that I can read encrypted emails when B&W is enabled?

What B&W options do you have enabled on your Outlook profile? It seems one of them might be conflicting with your encrypted emails...

Also, what email encryption software do you use for Outlook?

I have these options switched on:
Auto-number replies
Always reply in HTML
Include list of attachments
Automatically put people I reply to in...
Alerts & Notes - all alerts, no notes
Show send again

The encryption software is Outlook itself (using the blue padlock icon) at the senders end, using standard Microsoft functionality. My certificate is valid and available in the crypto store as can be seen from the fact that I can open the email if I disable the B&W add-in.

If you encrypt & send an email to somebody, are you able to view its content when opening it from your Sent Items mail folder or do you get the same error?

You don't seem to have many B&W options enabled, it might be a good idea to disable them one by one until you find which one causes the problem. Unfortunately most of our developers are on vacation until the end of July so we might not be able to prepare a fix/update (if needed) sooner...
