The autoresponder is not working consistently. I am getting an error message "error code 0x80070057. The parameter is incorrect." :?

Please advise. Thank you.

In order to properly assist you, please advise what Outlook & Auto Reply Manager versions are you using. Also, please describe how the auto reply rules are configured.

When exactly do you get that error message? When the auto-reply is about to be sent OR when you receive emails? If you open the Auto Reply Log (click on Show Log from the main Auto Reply Manager toolbar), do you have entries marked with a red icon? If you have such entries, can you please let me know the associated error message from the log window?

That error code (0x80070057) is triggered by Outlook (not by Auto Reply Manager itself). According to other web resources, there can be many reasons for that error message, such as: an anti-virus program preventing Outlook from sending automatic emails; corrupted address book; failed auto-complete cache.

Let's take each case, one by one:

1. Do you happen to use Norton Internet Security or a similar AV protection software? If you do, can you please disable it (as a test) and see if the error is still triggered? It may be the case that a 3rd party program is preventing Auto Reply Manager from sending the automatic reply through Outlook (it misinterprets it as a possible virus trying to send emails on your behalf).

2. If the above solution doesn't work, try to detect & fix any PST or address book errors by using the Office 2007 Diagnostics tool: you can access it from your Windows Start menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Office Tools -> Microsoft Office Diagnostics. Or you can access it from your Outlook help menu -> Office Diagnostics.

3. If it still doesn't work, try to clear your Outlook auto-complete cache. To do so, type (or copy/paste) the following command in Windows Explorer (or in a RUN command):
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook
This will open your Outlook ApplicationData folder (you can also browse to it by C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook - this is for Vista). In this folder, you must have a file called Outlook.NK2 - select it & delete it. PLEASE NOTE that by erasing this file you will empty your Outlook auto-complete cache (so when you will start typing a name in a TO/CC/BCC field, Outlook will not auto-complete it for the 1st time).
