Hi there,
I would like to try this program, but I am unable to switch the outlook express 'identity' that holds all of my folders.

When I start the program it goes to my personal email, which has no folders in which to export the email addresses....I need to be able to switch to a different Identity, but can't seem to get there....please help...

Looks like a grand program, but I would really like to see it work.

Thanks

Hi,

You can't log on to Email Address Collector with two MAPI accounts at the same.

An alternative solution is to export the email addresses as a CSV file and the import them in Outlook express.

Thanks for your answer!

I don't need to be logged in with two MAPI accounts at the same time, I only need to be able to switch between them.

All I would like to be able to do is to extract all of the email addresses from a particular folder within a particular 'identity' within outlook express 6.0. If there is an elegant (or not so elegant) way of doing that I would be all set.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can log on with the account which that particular folder belongs, and extract email addresses from that folder. To log on with a different account than the default you must open Email Address Collector while Outlook is not running. In this way you will be prompted to choose an account to which Email Address Collector can log on.

Hi There,
I tried that but got this error message:

---
Microsoft Outliook profiles not available or no profile has been selected. Therefore Microsoft Outlook folders cannot be displayed.
---

Probably related. Thanks for any help with this.

Hi,

To use a different Outlook Express identity on Email Address Collector, please firstly start Outlook Express, select the desired logged identity (from File->Switch Identity) then start Email Address Collector.

If you need to later switch the identity, you need to exit Email Address Collector, select a different identity from Outlook Express, then restart Email Address Collector.

I hope it helps,
Bogdan

OK...I own the program, spent my money, and I still get this error!!!

What gives?

All I need to do is to extract the email addresses from a .dbx folder from one of my outlook express identities....super frustrating! Please Help!

Unfortunately, we can't replicate your problem. The Outlook profiles error that you mentioned refers to Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express): probably you did not create a profile in Microsoft Outlook (try creating one, even if you don't plan to use MS Outlook).

A solution would be to temporarly add the desired dbx file to your default Outlook Express profile, then to extract addresses from it and then to move it back to its original profile.

I am really sorry for this problem. Although it is not a solution for your problem, we can offer you a full refund if you are not able to extract the desired email addresses, not even with the above solution.

Kind regards
Bogdan

I was able to move the .dbx to the identity that would open in the EAC.

I did get a bunch of strange looking email addresses as well, but it did work. Thank you.

This is an old topic but the problem did not seem to get fully resolved.

Having the same problem of not being able to change Outlook Express identities in the Email Addresses Source panel I tried the following which worked for me...

In Outlook Express go to file/switch identities/identity manager, go to 'Use this identity when a program cannot ask you to choose an identity' and select the identity required from the drop down list.

This identity will appear in the Email Adresses Source panel when opening Email Address Collector.

This fixed it for me, hope it can help anyone else who has the same problem.
