Post subject:  Filter not working in message body...

Hi there, I'm a photographer trying to use EAC, to collect emails for an up and coming newsletter.

Using the filter I was hoping to collect email addresses where the body contains any of the following "wedding, married, marriage, photography, event" etc... that way I can ensure I build a targeted list rather than any old correspondence I've had in the past.

This does not work, instead a result of 0 is returned EAC seems to blaze through a 1gig pst file way too fast to actually be searching the body's of the emails I have.

I've not bought the program but want to, it seems to have the perfect features and is very good value for money, am doing something wrong?

PS: when selecting unfiltered addresses from the pst file within any of the outlook folders it works perfectly, it's the filter that seems to be faulty.

Thanks.

Greg.

Hi greglumley,

In order to properly solve your problem is it possible to send at mailto:support@emailaddressmanager.com a part of the list you are trying to extract so we can make some tests and see what went wrong.

Kind Regards,

Hi Andrew, thanks for the response :)

Actually I sent an email to support last night already with no response so far.

Also I can send the list but as I understand it's not going to do you any good since the filter runs while the list is being created not after.

Sending you the PST file is obviously not a viable alternative since not only is it private but it's also over a gig.

Hi Andrew, that's exactly what I was doing.

I managed to get it to filter using one word or phrase at a time, the ones below did the trick.

photographer
big day
married

As soon as I tried any combinations using the semi colon it returns no result here are a few variations I tried:

photographer;married (0 result, maybe it's the spaces so...)
*photographer*;*married* (0 result, maybe it's still the spaces so...)
photographer ; married (0 result)

Also I tried to filter subject lines and can't get any return no matter what I enter.

As a test I tried to filter this copy pasted subject line from an existing email: "RE: - blog contact form submission" without the inverted comma's of course.

I've tried using wildcards with no success. (before I was a photographer I was a database web programmer so while I'm not an expert I'm slightly better versed than most :) )

The mere fact that I can get it to filter even single words is good enough since I can append the list till I have what I want, it's a damn side quicker than doing it manually ;)

Thanks for your assistance!

Greg.
